CLAN DUNCAN REUNIONS
Several Duncan family members suggested the 1st reunion, and the reunion was at Somerset Dam 24.09.1967. 117 family members attended, and it was decided to continue with the annual gathering. Each year a Plum Duff and a Fruit Cake has been made, and cut on the day by the senior members of the Clan. This tradition continues.
The 46th reunion was held at Kilcoy on the 26th October, 2014. Attendance was slightly up on last year, with those attending having a happy time catching up on the events of the past 12 months. We also take this time to exchange stories of our parents & grandparents, enjoying their past experiences - milestone & adventures.
Sadly in January this year we lost Vera Pratten aged 96. At the conclusion of lunch, the fruit cake, made by the daughter of the first donor, was passed around. No Plum duff unfortunately this year. The cake was cut by Isobel King who is now 94. With her sister Betty King, at 92, they now are the elders of the clan. Becoming a regular feature is the raffle of several draws, with fantastic prizes all donated by family members, which is run to raise the money for the hall hire for the day.
The drive to update the contact details, and further information to add to the family tree, is progressing well. There was much discussion and interest in the documented family history.
The next reunion will be held on Sunday 24th October 2015, at the Kilcoy Showgrounds. Though the reunion has historically been of the extended families of Peter & Rosanna Duncan, all families of the children of George & Margaret Duncan are invited. We have recently received contact of the descendants of John & Jane (Scroggie) Duncan, & Alexander & Isabella (Robb) Duncan, David & Christine (Mortimer) Duncan, siblings of Peter, and they are also welcomed and invited to attend.
Please all diarize the date & we look forward to catching up with you then.
